What is Place?
Place is a web and mobile platform that allows like-minded people to connect across shared interests. Place allows businesses to create private online communities that support and enhance company culture- a virtual water cooler where colleagues can share passions, hobbies, as well as interesting articles and projects . Businesses can also use Place to create interactive blogs where their customers and investors can ask questions, or to launch a brand advocacy program. Place is also being used by top brands and organizations, such as Coca-Cola, Travelocity and the UN Foundation to create brand advocacy programs- a hub where they can connect with their superfans, gather deep insights and intelligence on what marketing messages resonate and give those top 1% the tools to become evangelists for the brand or organization.
It began when we created a home on the web for Lady Gaga’s viral social movement. Her fans (“Little Monsters”) craved a place where they could share their convictions and creative spirit in a safe environment. The artist did not want to simply broadcast messages to her fans, she wanted to hear what they had to say. She gave her Little Monsters a uniting identity and we built them a sanctuary, a safe haven where they nurture, embrace, and empower each other. The engagement statistics blew other platforms away: whereas only 10% of people on other social networks interact at all and only 1% actually create content, over 70% of visitors to littlemonsters.com return each month and 44% create content. We learned that people wanted more exclusive places where they could connect with like-minded people; to discover, join, and participate. And empowering super fans to interact with and evangelize the artist they love drove significantly higher merch and ticket sales than any other platform. Little Monsters is the heart and soul of what we have set out to create.
